About the work
"Imagine yourself lost at sunrise, in the network of shadowy alleys of a medieval city. You wonder what is hiding behind the dozens of doors you pass by, all concealing houses that have known hundreds of years of activity. Mysterious figures exit them, draped in silk or white sheets, leaving in silence. You follow them. It's 5AM and you're led astray towards the sacred Ganges, where Hindus come to bathe and perform their rituals of ablution. You're sweating, you're hot, your bags are too heavy, you haven't slept in days because the train was loud and packed, but suddenly all this weight is lifted because you realise you're in the most sacred of Hindu cities... Varanasi." - Pascal Mannaerts
